PHILIPPINE GOLF ASSOCIATION
OF GEORGIA (PGAG)
CONSTITUTION AND BY-LAWS
Article I - NAME
The name of this golf Association shall be
Philippine Golf Association of Georgia (PGAG).
Article II - PURPOSE
FIRST: To stimulate interest in golf among the
Filipino American Golfers.
SECOND: To promote foster among the members a closer bond and fraternity
for their joint and mutual benefit, and to promote and conserve
the best interests and true spirit of the game of golf as embodied
in its ancient and honorable traditions.
THIRD: To encourage conformance to the USGA Rules of Golf by creating
a representative authority.
FOURTH: To maintain a uniform system of handicapping as set forth
in the USGA Handicap system and issue USGA Handicap Indexes to the
members.
FIFTH: To provide an authoritative body to govern and conduct golf
competitions.
Article III - MEMBERSHIP
Section 1 - Membership shall be available to
all men and women. The only requirement is being a Filipino/Filipina
by ancestry or related by marriage. Initial membership dues is $
20.00 per person.
Section 1 A - Associate membership maybe extended to individuals who do not qualify as Filipino/Filipina by ancestry or marriage but who wish to participate in the golfing, social, and other similar activities of the PGAG. These associate members may be elected to office except to the Presidency or Vice-Presidency. They maybe nominated by any active member and their membership will be deliberated on by the Board of Directors who will make the final recommendation for the acceptance.
Section 1 B - The rights, privileges, duties, and obligations of associate Members will be the same as Active Members.
Section 2 - All membership fees and dues shall
be established by the Board of Directors from time to time in such
amounts as they deem to be adequate to operate and maintain our
Association.
Article
IV - BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Section 1 - The Board of Directors shall consist
of nine (9) members. In the case of vacancy through death, resignation,
relocation or other cause, the remaining directors, may appoint
a successor by majority vote to hold office for the unexpired term
of the director whose place shall be vacant, and until the election/appointment
of his successor.
Article
V - OFFICERS AND COMMITTEES
Section 1 - Election of OFFICERS
will be held by all members present during the YEAR END tournament.
Section 2 - The officers shall consist of president,
vice-president, secretary/handicapper, treasurer/membership/chairman.
Section 3 - Chairman and members
of all committees shall be appointed by the president.
Section 4 - The following committees shall be appointed each year,
with such other committees as the president may deem necessary or
advisable. Tournament Committee to arrange and schedule with the
management of any golf course as necessary, and conduct all intra-club
and inter- club
competitions.
Article VI - AMENDMENTS TO
BY-LAWS
Section 1 - The
board of Directors shall have the power to repeal or amend any of
these By-laws provided that such action shall not be effective until
approved by a majority vote of the members of the Philippine Golf
Association of Georgia (PGAG) At a meeting held in accordance with
provisions contained herein.
