April 2002 Tournament
Browns Mill GC, Atlanta, GA
April 20, 2002
Our first tournament of 2002 "got off"
to a good start with the unexpected participation of our ex-president
Fidel Ramos. Our group loved his good sense of humor and genuine
concern for the Filipino community. I'd like to thank our
Consul Ray Donato for bringing him along.
One of my dilemmas was who to pick for his four-some. Jojo
Escobar bribed me with his wife's "ginataan" dish. The other
I gave to Cesar Ansaldo for all the hard work he did for our
group in Augusta. Unfortunately for the two, they ended up
contributing $52.00 to our treasury. I understand they played
a game called honesty and Jojo was assessed a big sum for
lying about his handicap. Thank you Mr. President for raising
the funds.
We had 7 beginners who participated. All
of them played under their handicaps. I heard they all enjoyed
the tournament and can't wait for the next one.
