The 1st PGAG Membership Drive Tournament held last Saturday, May 21,
2005 at the Trophy Club of Gwinnett was a resounding success, with a
total of 26 participants. Actually, 28 signed up, but two (2) were not
able to make it.

Below is a list of the winners with the respective awards:

Tom Kroh and Boboy Alipante were actually tied at 67 for 2nd place - Low
Net, but Tom got the nod with a lower score at hole no. 18 - 3 against
Boboy's 5. Awards were given during the post-tournament dinner held at
the Mr. Egg Roll Restaurant along Centerville Highway (SR-124).

The handicaps of those who played will be updated before the next
tournament. Before the tournament got underway, it was announced that
the ESC or Equitable Stroke Control will be used going forward.

Equitable Stroke Control (ESC) is the "capping" of individual hole
scores to make handicaps more indicative of a player's scoring
potential. The maximum score that a player can post on any hole is based
on the player's Course Handicap. In the case of a player without an
established handicap scores are adjusted using the maximum hole score
for the highest Course Handicap. Once your Course Handicap is
established you use the ESC table below.

Course Handicap        Maximum Score per Hole
up to 9        Double Bogey
10 through 19        7
20 through 29        8
30 through 39        9
40 or higher        10

Please note that the ESC will be used only in posting or reporting the
scores of players in updating the handicaps, not in determining the
winners in the tournament.

When asked by Dave Caballes, our beloved president, the members present
positively responded that they liked the course and wouldn't mind making
the Trophy Club of Gwinnett the home course of the PGAG, subject to the
majority of the overall membership's concurrence. In the meantime, other
suggested courses shall still be considered.

Further, a question on handicapping was raised - the possibility of
getting official USGA handicaps. The undersigned will be researching
this and will work with the rest of the officers. The first step,
though, would be to have a home course which will be our conduit with
the GSGA and the USGA.

We hope to see y'all at the June Monthly Tournament, which is scheduled
to be held on June 18 2005, with the venue still to be announced. Also,
please make plans for the 2nd Johnny B. Pellicer Memorial Tournament
which is tentatively scheduled for July 30, 2005.
